When are American political leaders, at every level of government, going to stop treating the Chinese Communist Party with kid gloves, and treat them as the enemy that they are?
The Chinese have done the following–and it’s not a complete list:
Created Confucius Institutes in American colleges to propagandize young adults about China.
Spawned a spy ring through the CCP’s consulate in Houston.
Launched a spy balloon over the U.S. in 2022.
Bought properties near U.S. military bases.
China isn’t a friendly government, and treating them as such is reckless and dangerous. China wants to replace the U.S as the world’s superpower. It's also astounding how no one was paying attention to the Communist lessons of the 20th century. One of the biggest lessons is Communists lie.
On Sept. 3, the feds took action against Linda Sun, a native Chinese woman who was fired for misconduct as deputy chief of staff to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul in March 2023. Sun rose through the ranks in New York state government over a decade and also served under former Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The FBI would raid the home of Sun and her businessman husband Christopher Hu. Events culminated on Sept. 3.
Danielle Wallace of Fox News reported the following:
Sun and her husband, Chris Hu, were arrested on Tuesday in connection to a federal indictment unsealed in the Eastern District of New York accusing her of acting as an undisclosed agent of the Chinese government and wielding her influence as a deputy chief of staff in the New York State executive chamber to covertly promote People's Republic of China (PRC) and CCP agendas. Prosecutors say the scheme, which allegedly also involved them laundering millions of dollars for China and using kickbacks to buy themselves properties and luxury vehicles, directly threatened national security.
Among the alleged activities by Sun, the indictment reveals:
Blocking Taiwanese officials from contacting the NYS governor’s office since 2016.
Ensuring content in speeches and press releases aligned with CCP language, granted CCP officials access to high-level state government discussions such as COVID response efforts, even participating in some..
Organizing a CCP protest against the democratically-elected president of Taiwan, who visited New York City, doing so as a senior NYS official.
Sun and Hu are innocent until proven guilty. However, the charges amount to CCP spies being connected to NYS government at a time of one-party Democratic rule in Albany. In 2020, Americans learned of an effort connected to California, specifically U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell.
Axois reported the following on Dec. 8, 2020 by Bethany Allen-Ebrahimian, and
Zach Dorfman of the Aspen Institute:
A suspected Chinese intelligence operative developed extensive ties with local and national politicians, including a U.S. congressman, in what U.S. officials believe was a political intelligence operation run by China’s main civilian spy agency between 2011 and 2015, Axios found in a yearlong investigation.
This is the infamous Fang Fang case that entangled Swalwell. The U.S. House Ethics Committee took no action against Swalwell in its final report in May 2023.
Sun had been in NYS government for at least a decade. That means the CCP implemented a sophisticated plan to influence politicians at multiple levels of government. They have been successful doing so. With the Axios story in December 2020 and now the story out of NYS with Sun and Hu, one can only wonder how many other states have unvetted Chinese natives, who are CCP spies, influencing public policy decisions.
These are not the actions of a friendly nation.
These are not the actions of a nation that views the U.S. as a partner.
These are not the actions of a nation that seeks to cooperate in varying ways in geopolitics.
These are aggressive acts aimed at compromising multiple Americans through planting spies in various settings. American leaders have yet to meet this threat with the moral clarity and response it deserves.

Hochul conducted a press conference on Sept. 5, confirming Secretary of State Antony Blinken would expel the counsel general of the Chinese mission in New York. She also played lip service to encouraging Blinken to take actions against China for this betrayal by Sun.
‘I am furious. I’m outraged by this behavior and we’re going to continue working alongside the (Biden) administration to get the Department of Justice to get this done.’
The NYS governor underscored there are certain things she can’t divulge because of the legal case. The business Sun and Hu conducted on behalf of the CCP allowed them to live a life of luxury. Based on the a pattern of lack of transparency by Cuomo and Hochul, honesty from Albany will be in short supply.
However, these reported incidents–the ones Americans now know about publicly–raise the question of how many other U.S. political leaders and states are swept up in a scandal that CCP is controlling, or attempting to control, American politicians.
The Chinese Communist Party has been displaying threatening actions in higher ed, the economy, elections, land purchases, political scene, and elsewhere.
Worse, the CCP has cozied up to Russia, Iran, and North Korea–all American enemies.
We have an aggressive enemy determined to defeat us.
We either get serious about confronting and stopping the CCP or we reap the wicked fruit that will come from their nefarious actions.
