On Christmas Day, Catherine Herridge was a CBS “Face the Nation” panelist giving 2024 predictions. The national security reporter, who was fired by CBS brass in February, predicted a “black swan” national security event because of heightened threat alerts, wars in the Middle East and Ukraine, and the nation’s political division.
The U.S. and world are more dangerous because President Joe Biden is weak. After all, Obama’s and Biden’s Iran boosterism spawned a foreign policy legacy that allowed this crisis to metastasize. Meanwhile, Reza Pahlavi, the eldest son of the last shah of Iran, is founder and leader of an opposition group for Iranian exiles. He argues the West’s weak leaders and appeasement of Iran has created Iran’s influence.
Iran hatched a plan with their Middle East proxies–Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Houthis in Yemen–to strike Israel. That happened on Oct. 7, 2023, with the surprise Hamas attack on several Israeli towns that left more than 1,200 Israelis dead and Hamas taking scores of hostages, including Americans.
The Houthis used drones and other attacks on Red Sea international cargo ships, forcing the U.S. and U.K. to intervene, driving up shipping costs. Israel bombed a building in Syria in early April where Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps brass were located, including the Quds Force mastermind of the Oct. 7, 2023 attacks. Iran’s mullah’s launched a series of attacks of 185 drones, 36 cruise missiles, and 110 surface-to-surface missiles. Israel responded to that Friday.
These events underscore the ease to entangle the U.S. military in another conflict overseas, no matter what President Biden’s media enablers say. With attention on the Middle East, Americans must remain vigilant at home because there are warning signs. The big ones are the dangerous southern border and Palestinian protesters in America who have ratcheted up their rhetoric. Election year politics also play a role.
Southern border
FBI Director Christpher Wray has alerted Congress multiple times to heightened threats to the nation following the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. On April 11, he said the heightened national security alerts focused on Israel, and Russia’s recent terrorist attack by ISIS-Khorasan, the group that bombed the airport in the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal debacle.
In January, Wray told the following to the House panel examining the Chinese Communist Party. Newsweek’s Cecelia Smith-Schoenwalder reported:
‘The biggest one is an inspired attack by the conflict in the Middle East, but an attack that's inspiring some individual here in a horribly misguided way to commit an attack,’ he said. ‘That risk is more likely to be a lone actor, targeting so-called soft targets here in the United States, which is facilities, houses of worship, schools – places that people every day in America go … and so to defend the public we all serve, we need to be mindful of that heightened terrorist risk.’
Meanwhile, U.S. Border Patrol chief Jason Owens sat down for a CBS News interview in March and talked about the “known 140,000 got-aways.” That has “national security threat” written all over it. Owens said to CBS News:
‘Why are they risking their lives and crossing in areas where we can't get to?’ Owens asked. ‘Why are they hiding? What do they have to hide? What are they bringing in? What is their intent? Where are they coming from? We simply don't know the answers to those questions. Those things for us are what represent the threat to our communities.’
Also, the New York Post’s Jennie Taer reported Lebanese national Basel Bassel Ebbadi was first caught by the Border Patrol on March 9 near El Paso, Texas. On March 12, he admitted he was a Hezbollah member, but it took another five days to confirm it.
Taer reported:
An ICE source told The Post that if Ebbadi had ‘not admitted to being part of Hezbollah,’ Border Patrol could’ve potentially released him into the country freely, with a date to report in to court; or potentially placed him on an ankle monitor as an ‘alternative to detention’ measure.
No one in the Biden administration can honestly say they are on top of bad actors getting through the open border, Muslim or otherwise.
This an an image from coverage of Palestinian protesters blocking the Golden Gate Bridge in California on Tuesday for KCRA in Sacramento, CA.
Palestinian protesters
After the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, antisemitism spiked on American college campuses nationwide. Jewish students and parents even raised security concerns.
The pro-Palestinian protests hit the streets with marches, chants against Israel, and blocking access to major U.S. airports. On Tuesday, they blocked the Golden Gate Bridge in California for four hours. The district attorney is seeking accounts of distressed motorists and possible false imprisonment charges with restitution.
Events in New York City on Monday are far more disturbing because of the rhetoric that includes “Death to America.” Those chants started days earlier in Dearborn, Mich., home to a large Muslim community, who celebrated the Quds Force, an Iranian security force. When U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-MI, who represents Dearborn, was confronted about it, Tlaib said, “I don’t talk to Fox News!”
The heated rhetoric by Palestinian protesters is juxtaposed by at least six Americans who have been jailed for 11 years for praying and singing at a Tennessee abortion clinic.
Which group is a bigger “domestic terrorist” threat?
Election year politics
The Hamas attack in October 2023 put Biden in a dubious spot. Biden had to stand by Israel, a long-time U.S. ally. However, he is now pursuing “Death to America” voters because he needs to win Michigan to be re-elected.
If polling in Michigan has the race tight between Biden and Trump, the President will betray Israel for votes, just like he is buying votes of Gen Zers over student loan amnesty.
Any event viewed as escalation at the border or with Palestine protesters creates a situation where any wrong move could ignite a powder keg that could land in the streets of American cities.
God forbid Herridge becomes a prophetess.
