It’s now racist to desire normalcy in U.S.
Jason Aldean’s song triggers the left into greater, deeper lunacy
Raging leftists in America are insane, lacking all common sense. These folks are easily thrown into an apoplectic fit about the outrage of the day. It’s as predictable as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.
The trigger point can be can be anything: media, music, sports, government, entertainment, or business.
Enter Jason Aldean’s song “Try That in a Small Town.” It contains the following lyric:
Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk
Carjack an old lady at a red light
Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store
Ya think it's cool, well, act a fool if ya like
Cuss out a cop, spit in his face
Stomp on the flag and light it up
Yeah, ya think you're tough
Anyone paying attention to current events can guess what happened next from Team Outrage because the progressive playbook unfolded. The offended marched to Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, or Facebook–or combinations of them–proclaiming Aldean a racist who promotes lynching. They pressured CMT to stop showing Aldean’s video of the song. Now CMT is pressured from Team Normal as Aldean’s song has catapulted to No. 1 on Apple iTunes.
Aldean responded to the hysterical leftist masses mid-afternoon July 18 with the following post on social media:
In the past 24 hours I have been accused of releasing a pro-lynching song (a song that has been out since May) and was subject to the comparison that I (direct quote) was not too pleased with the nationwide BLM protests. These references are not only meritless, but dangerous. There is not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to it- and there isn’t a single video clip that isn’t real news footage -and while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song with music- this one goes too far.
As so many pointed out, I was present at Route 91-where so many lost their lives- and our community recently suffered another heartbreaking tragedy. NO ONE, including me, wants to continue to see senseless headlines or families ripped apart.
Try That In A Small Town, for me, refers to the feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief. Because they were our neighbors, and that was above any differences. My political views have never been something I’ve hidden from, and I know that a lot of us in this Country don’t agree on how we g:t back to a sense of normalcy where we go at least a day without a headline that keeps us up at night. But the desire for it to- that’s what this song is about.
Aldean’s song is an anthem for normalcy and sanity. In small-town America, people have one another’s backs. The differences that exist between them are not seen as brick walls topped by barbed wire. During his tour stop in Cincinnati, Ohio July 21, Aldean stated, “I’m a proud American. I love our country, I want to see it restored to what it once was before all this b@&$!%@#.”
What could possibly be so abnormal about large cities?
Normal would be prosecutors going after people who commit crimes.
In certain states and large cities,“bail reform” is code for letting bad guys back out on the streets. In the state where I live, New York, GOP gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin nearly launched himself into the governor’s mansion last fall on the crime issue alone. Name the blue state or large city, and you have bail reform or other mind-numbing progressive policies.
Meanwhile, a Los Angeles judge recently reinstated a “no bail” policy for misdemeanors and non-violent crimes. Rapper 50 Cent stated, “LA is finished. Watch how bad it gets out there. SMH.”
USA Today reported last fall some harsh realities in certain major cities: robberies up (13%); and aggravated assaults up (2.6%), or nearly 237,000 — in certain large cities from Jan. 1 to June 30, 2022. The total for the first half of 2019, before covid, was 193,000, with 3,004 homicides. In 2022, the number was 4,511 for the first six months.
Two anecdotes from small-town America emerged near me recently. A boss at work had a neighbor alert him to a couple of people around his home. The boss had a short trip home, the neighbor pointed to the tree line, and the boss saw two teen-age boys running away from him in the woods. That wouldn’t happen without a neighbor watching out for a neighbor . . . in a small town.
Also, a barking dog and inquisitive homeowner allowed a man to come face-to-face with a fugitive wanted on felonies in two states after escaping from jail. The man called police and shortly after the fugitive was caught. This also occurred in small-town America.
Meanwhile, shoplifting is driving major retailers from large cities. It’s not the sole reason, but it is part of the picture unfolding in metropolitan America. The UK’s Daily Mail outlined a variety of U.S. retailers that are fleeing large cities. In April, Wal-Mart announced the closure of four stores in Chicago and all of its stores in Portland.
Normal would be not having human feces in your streets, which is now a punchline to jokes in San Francisco and LA. San Diego spends $1 million a year on dealing with human feces and other biohazards.
Normal would be realizing everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Normal would be American leftists not blaming everything on racism, or accusing someone of beng a (fill in the blank) phobe, but realizing there is a more reasonable explanation for what people say or do.
Normal would be maintaining perspective because that’s what adults do.
Normal would be not seeing people of different perspectives as an enemy who need their lives destroyed or careers canceled.
Normal would be letting the Jason Aldean video play without making a big deal.
There’s no denying, however, the reaction by leftists to Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town” has made him one rich and famous man.
